Building Update - 06.18.07

June 18th, 2007 by Steven Gabb

A volunteer group of SFLC members worked hard this past Saturday (6/16/07) to remove a majority of the church belongings from our 2nd floor facility. We moved almost everything (with the exception of the items needed for Sunday worship) down to the basement. On Sunday after worship, we moved the remainder of the items. As we will continue to worship somewhere in the building, we will set up for worship on a weekly basis in a space indicated by the General Contractor.

Taking advantage of this construction period, the worship series for these 2 months is entitled ‘Everything You Need to Build a Church’. As this (physical) church gets built, we will discuss the different elements needed to make that happen using them as illustrations and a springboard to discuss the elements essential to building a church of believers. If you’re in the area, please join us during this somewhat chaotic, yet very exciting time in Sure Foundation’s history.

As previously mentioned, we have vacated the building and it didn’t take long for the guys to get to work. Just an hour into the workweek, the construction workers had already begun demolition in the space that served as Sure Foundation’s home for almost 7 years. They have also framed in the east side of our building (both floors) which includes the fellowship area, kitchen, & restrooms on the 1st floor and offices & the ESL classroom on the 2nd floor.

Building Update - 06.05.07

June 5th, 2007 by Steven Gabb

The new roof was completed this past Saturday (6/2)! This was just in time as we got a lot of rain on Sunday & Monday, remnants of Tropical Storm Barry.

We are still on track to vacate before June 18th at which time the construction crew will ambitiously work on our project. We are planning a work day at the church on Saturday, June 16th, to move most of our stuff off the premises. (All are invited to come and help!!) During this time, as previously reported, we will continue to meet in our building on Sundays, but we will be shifted around from space to space…wherever there is a relatively clean space for us to worship.

AEN, the design/build firm contracted to do the work, remains confident that the majority of the work will be completed during this 2-month period. We remain optimistic that we should be fully settled in to our newly renovated space by the end of this calendar year! Please keep this project as well as our gospel efforts in your prayers.
